Week 7 Predictions
It’s time for another dose of my weekly NFL Predictions. This week sees the NFL coming to London with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers facing off at Wembley on Sunday. I’ll be predicting the outcome off this game tomorrow in a special edition International Series Game blog.
Another storyline to watch for this week is LaDainian Tomlinson. The former San Diego Chargers Running Back will play his first ever game against the Chargers on Sunday when his New York Jets face the Chargers at MetLife stadium. This will be an emotional game for Tomlinson, who is the Chargers all-time leading rusher having rushed for 12,490 yards during his nine season with the team.
How successful will Denver Broncos Quarterback Tim Tebow be in his first start of the season? Will there be more post-game incidents with Detroit Lions Head Coach Jim Schwartz? Can the 0-6 Indianapolis Colts get their first win of the season against the 4-2 New Orleans Saints? Let’s get to the predicitions.
Washington Redskins at Carolina Panthers
The 3-2 Redskins travel to Carolina with a new Starting Quarterback in John Beck after Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced the decision to bench Rex Grossman. The 30-year-old Beck has played in just six regular season games and hasn’t started a game since the 07 season. Look for the Redskins to rely on Running Backs Tim Hightower and Ryan Torain to carry the the load as the John Beck era in Washington begins.
The Carolina Panthers are 1-5 and in last place in the NFC South. Rookie Quarterback Cam Newton is coming off a loss against the Atlanta Falcons last week in which he threw 3 Interceptions. The Panthers Defense looks to be struggling to cope without star Linebacker Jon Beason who is out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon. Look for the Panthers to run the ball more with Deangelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart to take the pressure off Cam Newton. I see the Panthers getting their second win off the season in this game. Redskins17 Panthers24
Seattle Seahawks at Cleveland Browns
This game looks to be a dull affair with both teams’ are struggling at 2-3 this season. The Seahawks are coming off a bye week and need to win this game if they are to have chance of staying in contention in the NFC West.
The Browns second-year Quarterback Colt McCoy looks to be progressing and has thrown for 8 Touchdowns with just 3 Interceptions after five games. I see the Browns winning a close one at home. Seahawks17 Browns21
Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions
The 3-3 Falcons are yet to regain the form that saw them win the NFC South last season. Quarterback Matt Ryan will rely heavily on star Wide Receiver Roddy White against the Lions, with Rookie Julio Jones still fighting an injury that kept him out of last week’s game.
The 5-1 Lions are looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat against the San Francisco 49ers. Look for Wide Receiver Calvin Johnson to have a big game against the Falcons’ secondary. I see the Lions getting the win in this one. Falcons24 Lions30
Denver Broncos at Miami Dolphins
The Tim Tebow era in Denver gets on the way this Sunday as Tebow takes his 1-4 Broncos on the road against the 0-5 Dolphins. Dolphins Head Coach Tony Sparano knows his job is on the line this Sunday and anything less than a win could result in him getting fired. The Broncos will hope that their young group of Wide Receiver’s can step up after they traded Brandon Lloyd to the St.Louis Rams for a conditional fifth-round pick in next year’s Draft.
The Dolphins leading Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall comes up against his former team and will look to have a big game coming off an impressive Monday Night game against the New York Jets. I see Tebow leading the Broncos to victory in this one. Broncos 24 Dolphins14
San Diego Chargers at New York Jets
This game look’s to be an exciting one with Ladainian Tomlinson coming up against his former team for the first time and both Head Coaches becoming involved in a war of words in interviews leading up to the game. Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan had claimed that the Chargers would be Super Bowl Champions by now if they had hired him instead of Norv Turner four years ago.
Although he has backtracked on these comments and apologized to Norv Turner, it adds a little spice to the game between two teams chasing Super Bowl glory this season. I see the Chargers getting the win on the road to move to 5-1 for the season. Chargers24 Jets21
Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans
This game could be crucial in deciding the outcome of the AFC South as the winner of this game will move to the top of the division. The Texans Offense has struggled to cope with the loss of star Wide Receiver Andre Johnson in recent weeks and his status for Sunday’s game remains uncertain with Head Coach Gary Kubiak refusing to rule him out.
The Titans are currently 3-2 and have been led by the play of veteran Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck who has thrown for 9 Touchdowns with just 4 Interceptions through five games. Look for Titans Running Back Chris Johnson to finally have a big game in this one as the Titans get the win. Texans 18 Titans 21
Pittsburgh Steelers at Arizona Cardinals
This game could be a blowout with the 4-2 Steelers on the road against the 1-4 Cardinals. The Steelers haven’t been spectacular so far this season but have still found a way to win games and I expect this game to be no different.
The Cardinals have looked awful at times this season and Quarterback Kevin Kolb hasn’t lived up to expectations since signing his six-year $65 million contract. I see the Steelers winning this one comfortably. Steelers27 Cardinals14
Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders
The Raiders traded a first-round pick in the 2012 Draft and a conditional second-round pick in the 2013 Draft for Quarterback Carson Palmer and signalled their intent to win the AFC West. Carson Palmer is expected to start on Sunday as the 4-2 Raiders look to continue their pursuit of first place in the AFC West.
The 2-3 Chiefs have struggled to find any real spark on Offense since star Running Back Jamaal Charles was lost for the season with a serious knee injury. Quarterback Matt Cassel will have to be at his best against the tough Oakland Defense. I see the Raiders getting the win in this one. Chiefs14 Raiders28
St.Louis Rams at Dallas Cowboys
The 0-5 Rams travel to Cowboys stadium with slim hopes of a victory. Quarterback Sam Bradford is uncertain to start the game with an ankle injury.
The Cowboys have been one of the most entertaining team’s this season but are 2-3 and struggling in the NFC East. Quarterback Tony Romo will have to be more consistent if the Cowboys want to make the Playoffs this season. I see the Cowboys winning big in this one. Rams17 Cowboys35
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings
The 6-0 Packers are the only undefeated team in the NFL and are looking more impressive every week. Aaron Rodgers has been spectacular for the Packers and has already thrown for over 2037 yards and 17 Touchdowns after just six games.
The Vikings are 1-5 and Rookie Quarterback Christian Ponder is preparing to make his first ever NFL start on Sunday. Veteran Quarterback Donovan McNabb’s career looks to be coming to an end after he was benched in last week’s game and is now the Vikings Backup. This game is a certain blowout. Packers38 Vikings9
Indianapolis Colts at New Orleans Saints
The 0-6 Colts are looking like a strong contender for the first overall pick in next year’s draft as the team still hasn’t won a game this season. I can’t see the Colts having much hope in this one.
The Saints are looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Look for Quarterback Drew Brees to have a big game against the Colts awful Defense. Colts7 Saints35
Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars
Monday Night Football sees the 4-1 Ravens travel to Jacksonville to face the 1-5 Jags. The Ravens have been impressive this season and they look sure to get the win in this one.
The Jaguars have struggled and have only won one game this season. Rookie Quarterback Blaine Gabbert is in for a long day against the Ravens Defense. The Ravens get the win in this one. Ravens30 Jaguars13
