Overview: The top wide receiver prospect in this year’s Draft, Blackmon has been a dominant player at Oklahoma State for the past two seasons by racking up over 3000 receiving yards and over 30 touchdowns. He has been projected to go as high as the number 2 overall pick to the St.Louis Rams and I can’t see him falling outside the Top 5.
Blackmon’s biggest strength is his ability to separate from opposing defenders. He uses his physical frame to full effect and is at his best on quick inside routes. He will definitely be a red zone target for whichever team he lands with due to his tremendous leaping ability and superb strength.
The biggest question mark about his game will be his speed. He is by no means a speedster and doesn’t possess the same speed as other wide receivers in this class, but he still has enough speed/agility to get the job done. He also has a habit of dropping catchable passes (Similar to Terrell Owens). It will be tough to improve his speed but he could easily fix his issues with dropped catches by simply improving his concentration.
