Week 2 Picks- Previews and Predictions

Jim Harbaugh

With Week 1 in the books, Week 2 has arrived and there is lots to look forward to on Sunday. Last week in the NFL set many opening day records with five rookie quarterback starters, five teams going over the forty point mark and more replacement refs than ever before.

Thursday Night Football kicked off last night with the Chicago Bears on the road against the Green Bay Packers but it didn’t turn out to be the high-scoring game that many fans were predicting. The Packers got back to winning ways with a 23-10 victory after a dominant defensive performance that held the Bears offense to just 168 total yards.

Looking ahead to the rest of the action in Week 2 and there are plenty of exciting games to watch this Sunday. Ravens-Eagles, 49ers-Lions, and Jets-Steelers are just some of the standout games on show but there will be plenty of other matchups worth watching with fourteen games in total.

Here my picks for this weeks games.

Chiefs at Bills

Mario Williams

If your a fan of defensive football, don’t expect to see much of it in this game.

Chiefs- Matt Cassel throws four touchdown passes.

Bills- C.J. Spiller has 100 rushing yards.

Chiefs Win

Saints at Panthers

Marques Colston

This NFC South clash will be high-scoring with plenty of points on the board.

Saints- Drew Brees will have 50+ pass attempts.

Panthers- Cam Newton continues his sophomore slump with another two interceptions.

Saints Win

Browns at Bengals

Andy Dalton

These two AFC North teams won’t excite many fans in a low-scoring game.

Browns- Trent Richardson is held to under 50 rushing yards again.

Bengals- A.J. Green is the only spark for the Bengals offense with two touchdowns.

Bengals Win

Vikings at Colts

Adrian Peterson

Andrew Luck will improve on a mixed debut against a poor Vikings defense.

Vikings- Peterson continues his remarkable comeback with 100 rushing yards.

Colts- Luck shines at home with 300 passing yards and 3 touchdowns.

Colts Win

Texans at Jaguars

Andre Johnson

Even with Maurice Jones-Drew at running back, the Jags offense won’t put up much of a fight in this one.

Texans- Andre Johnson goes over 100 receiving yards again.

Jags- Blaine Gabbert throws four interceptions.

Texans Win

Raiders at Dolphins

Ryan Tannehill

As long as the Raiders solved their long snapping issues, the should be favorites on the road vs the Dolphins.

Raiders- Darren McFadden runs for 150 yards.

Dolphins- Ryan Tannehill will rush for 50 yards.

Raiders Win

Cardinals at Patriots

Danny Woodhead

This is the prime candidate for blowout game of the week with the Pats likely to go over 30 points again.

Cardinals- Larry Fitzgerald won’t shine without a solid quarterback and only manages 50 receiving yards.

Pats- Danny Woodhead have over 100 all-purpose yards.

Patriots Win

Buccaneers at Giants

Josh Freeman

This will be a battle of the rookie running backs in the run game between Doug Martin and David Wilson.

Bucs- Josh Freeman has a day to forget and is sacked 5 times.

Giants- Victor Cruz bounces back with 100 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Giants Win

Ravens at Eagles

Joe Flacco

This game will be a thriller with an overtime field goal making all the difference.

Ravens- Flacco doesn’t have the same impact he had on Monday night but still throws over 250 yards.

Eagles- LeSean McCoy gets more touches and has 150 total yards.

Ravens Win

Cowboys at Seahawks

Russell Wilson

The Seahawks are my upset pick this week with Russell Wilson getting his first home start.

Cowboys- Just like Flacco, Tony Romo shows he is still an inconsistent quarterback with two interceptions.

Seahawks- Wilson puts on a solid performance with 200 passing yards and no interceptions.

Seahawks Win

Redskins at Rams

Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III is the star attraction going into St.Louis.

Redskins- RG3 had two passing touchdowns last week but gets two on the ground in this game.

Rams- Sam Bradford has one of the worst receiving corps in the NFL and won’t throw for more than 200 yards.

Redskins Win

Jets at Steelers

Mike Wallace

If there’s one sure guarantee for Week 2, it’s that this game will be old school football with plenty of hits.

Jets- Just like last week, I predict Tim Tebow will score a touchdown.

Steelers- Mike Wallace has a big day on “Revis Island” with over 100 receiving yards.

Steelers Win

Titans at Chargers

Jake Locker

Titans running back Chris Johnson will be looking to rush for than 4 yards against the Chargers improving defense.

Titans- Jake Locker is forced to come out of the game through injury.

Chargers- Melvin Ingram bounces back from his underwhelming debut with two sacks.

Chargers Win

Lions at 49ers

Matthew Stafford

In “Handshake-Gate II” both offenses will put up big numbers.

Lions- Calvin Johnson has a monster game with 150 receiving yards and a touchdown.

49ers- Alex Smith continues his good start with another 200 passing yards and two touchdowns.

49ers Win

Broncos at Falcons (Monday Night Football)

Peyton Manning

I’ll be posting a full preview of Broncos vs Falcons on Monday.
