Week 3 Picks- Previews and Predictions

Pete Carroll

Week 3 kicked off last night with the New York Giants overcoming injury problems to earn a comfortable 36-7 win over the Carolina Panthers. Although I had picked Cam Newton and the Panthers to pull of the upset, it just wasn’t to be after a disappointing performance from Cam in which he rushed for only six yards and also threw three interceptions.

Looking ahead to the rest of this weeks action and there is plenty of great action in store for Sunday. Still missing head coach Sean Payton, the New Orleans Saints will be looking to get their first win of the season vs the Kansas City Chiefs in what is a battle of two win-less teams. There is also a battle of two undefeated teams in San Diego on Sunday as the Chargers take on Matt Ryan and his travelling Atlanta Falcons.

I have changed the layout this week and split the games into three different categories: Extra point, field goal and touchdown. (I think it should be pretty clear to NFL fans what these categories mean!)

So without further ado, here are my picks for Week 3.

Extra Point

Preview: 0-2 Chiefs vs 0-2 Saints

Prediction: Drew Brees and the Saints bounce back from a poor start with a win at home

Pick: Saints Win

Prediction: Brandon Weeden leads the Browns to their first win

Pick: Browns Win

Preview: 0-2 Jaguars vs  1-1 Colts

Prediction: Andrew Luck does what RG3 couldn’t with back-to-back wins

Pick: Colts Win

Field Goal

Preview: 1-1 Rams vs 1-1 Bears

Prediction: Jay Cutler bounces quickly moves on from Week 2 disappointment with a win

Pick: Bears Win

Preview: 1-1 Steelers at 0-2 Raiders

Prediction: A typically dominant defensive performance gives the Steelers back-to-back wins

Pick: Steelers Win

Preview: 2-0 Texans at 1-1 Broncos

Prediction: The under the radar Texans continue their undefeated start at Mile High

Pick: Texans Win

Preview: 1-1 Lions at 0-2 Titans

Prediction: Matthew Stafford and co. should have no problems against a struggling Titans team

Pick: Lions Win

Pick: Bengals Win

Preview: 2-0 49ers at 1-1 Vikings

Prediction: The Niners have a fantastic road record under Jim Harbaugh and that will to continue in this one

Pick: 49ers Win

Preview: 0-2 Buccaneers at 1-1 Cowboys

Prediction: Some things never change in the NFL and the Cowboys inconsistency is definitely here to stay

Pick: Cowboys Win

Preview: 1-1 Jets at 1-1 Dolphins

Prediction: Rex Ryan and the Jets will be wary of an upset but they should have enough to grind out a win

Pick: Jets Win

Touchdown

Preview: 1-1 Patriots at 1-1 Ravens

Prediction: This could turn out to be the must see game of the week with the Ravens just edging it

Pick: Ravens Win

Preview: 2-0 Falcons at 2-0 Chargers

Prediction: The Chargers have never started a season 3-0 under Norv Turner but that will change come Sunday

Pick: Chargers Win
