Jake Locker

After last night’s action, Week 15 comes to a close tonight with an AFC matchup as the 6-7 New York Jets travel to Tennessee to take on the 4-9 Titans.

The game will be live on ESPN in America and on the BBC Red Button in Ireland.

Now without further ado, here is my preview of Monday Night Football Week 15.

New York Jets at Tennessee Titans

Mark Sanchez

Stadium- LP Field

Kickoff- 7:30 p.m. in Tennessee Titans/1:30 p.m. Irish Time

Prediction

Jake Locker

The Jets defense is in for a long night vs Chris Johnson and the rest of Titans offense and they should have a tough time containing the Titans running game.

In this battle of polarizing quarterbacks, it’s Jake Locker who comes out on top against Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, and co. to lead the Titans to victory.

Jets 30 Titans 33

So that’s your preview and prediction, hope everyone enjoys the game.

Tom Brady

After last night’s action, Week 14 comes to a close tonight with an exciting clash between two of the top teams in the AFC as the Houston Texans travel to New England to take on the Patriots.

The game will be live on ESPN in America and on the BBC Red Button in Ireland.

Now without further ado, here is my preview of Monday Night Football Week 14.

Houston Texans at New England Patriots

Matt Schaub

Stadium- Gillette Stadium

Kickoff- 8:30 p.m. in New England/1:30 p.m. Irish Time

Prediction

Tom Brady

Both these teams have got Playoff spots already locked up and are now in a battle to get the number 1 seed in the AFC.

There is no doubting that the Texans have had a fantastic season thus far but I think they face their toughest test yet tonight in New England and I see Tom Brady and the Patriots getting the win.

Texans 17 Patriots 29

So that’s your preview and prediction, hope everyone enjoys the game.

After yesterday’s exciting action, Week 13 comes to a close tonight with a crucial NFC East clash as the New York Giants go on the road to Washington to take on RG3 and the Redskins.

The game will be live on ESPN in America and on the BBC Red Button in Ireland.

So without further ado, here is my preview of Monday Night Football Week 13.

New York Giants at Washington Redskins

Eli Manning

Eli Manning

Stadium- FedEx Field

Kickoff- 8:30 p.m. in Washington/1:30 p.m. Irish Time

Prediction

Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III

Both teams need a victory in this one to keep their respective Playoff hopes alive in a highly competitive battle in the NFC.

Although the Giants are coming off an impressive win over the Green Bay Packers, something tells me that RG3 will put on a show in prime time and give the Redskins the edge at home.

Giants 13 Redskins 27

So that’s your preview and prediction, hope everyone enjoys the game.

Nick Foles

After some great games yesterday, Week 12 comes to a close tonight with the Carolina Panthers on the road vs the Philadelphia Eagles.

The game will be live on ESPN in America and on the BBC Red Button in Ireland.

Now without further ado, here is a full preview of Monday Night Football Week 12.

Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia Eagles

Cam Newton

Stadium- Lincoln Financial Field

Kickoff- 8:30 p.m. in New Jersey/1:30 p.m. Irish Time

Prediction

Nick Foles

This game wasn’t the type of exciting Monday Night Football matchup fans were expecting at the beginning of the season with both teams completely out of contention in the NFC.

Although the Eagles are continuing their highly unimpressive losing streak, I think they will finally bounce back here against the Panthers.

Panthers 21 Eagles 24

So that’s your preview and prediction, hope everyone enjoys the game.

Monday Night Football- Bears vs 49ers Preview

leave a comment »

Patrick Willis

After some great games yesterday, Week 11 comes to a close tonight with an exciting NFC clash between the Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers.

The game will be live on ESPN in America and on the BBC Red Button in Ireland.

Now without further ado, here is a full preview of Monday Night Football Week 11.

Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers

Brian Urlacher

Stadium– Candlestick Park

Kick Off- 5:30 p.m. in San Francisco/1:30 a.m. in Ireland

What to Watch

Backup Quarterbacks

  • Consussions apear to have become a common problem in the modern game and that is the case for both of these teams at the quarterback position. With both Jay Cutler and Alex Smith doubtful for the game, both teams will be relying on their backup quarterbacks.
  • The Bears will be counting on veteran Jason Campbell whilst the 49ers will look to second-year player Colin Kaepernick. It will be interesting to see how these two perform tonight.

Defense

  • For fans of old skool defensive football, this will certainly be a must see game. With both defenses ranked in the top 10 in the league, expect to see a low scoring physical game tonight.
  • With so many standout players on both sides to choose from- Patrick Willis, Aldon Smith, Biran Ulracher and Julius Peppers just to name a few, points should come at a premium tonight. For a backup quarterback, things don’t come much tougher than this.

Who to Watch

Brandon Marshall

Brandon Marshall- Wide Receiver- Bears

  • Brandon Marshall will need to be at his best for the Bears offense tonight in the absence of Jay Cutler.
  • Projected Stats: 8 Catches for 69 Yards and 1 Touchdown

Julius Peppers

Julius Peppers- Defensive End- Bears

  • Peppers will be a key player for the Bears defense as they look to contain the elusive Colin Kaepernick.
  • Projected Stats: 4 Tackles with 2 Sacks and 1 Forced Fumble

Frank Gore

Frank Gore- Running Back- 49ers

  • He will be tasked with leading the 49ers offense once again and will surely see 20+ carries.
  • Projected Stats: 22 Carries for 110 Yards and 1 Touchdown

Aldon Smith

Aldon Smith- Outside Linebacker- 49ers

  • #99 will set out to dominate as he goes in search of reaching double digit sacks for the year.
  • Projected Stats: 8 Tackles with 1 Sack

Prediction

Colin Kaepernick

This game should be a low scoring battle as both teams face injury concerns at the quarterback position and so will look to lean on their respective defenses.

After their surprising tie against the St.Louis Rams last week, I think the 49ers will bounce back this week and get the win vs the Bears.

Bears 10 49ers 20

So that’s your preview and prediction, hope everyone enjoys the game.

Monday Night Football- Chiefs vs Steelers Preview

leave a comment »

Ben Roethlisberger

After last night’s exciting action, Week 10 concludes tonight with an AFC clash as the Kansas City Chiefs travel to Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers.

The game will be live on ESPN in America and on the BBC Red Button in Ireland.

Now without further ado, here is a full preview of Monday Night Football Week 10.

Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers

Matt Cassel

Stadium– Heinz Field

Kick Off- 8:30 p.m. in Pittsburgh/1:30 a.m. in Ireland

What to Watch

Antonio Brown

Chiefs Rushing Attack vs Steelers Run Defense

  • For all of the Chiefs struggles this season, they are still one of the best teams in the league on the ground led by star running back Jamaal Charles. The Chiefs are currently the third best team in the NFL in rushing yards per game with Charles on pace for  another 1,000 yard year.
  • The Chiefs will definitely look to run the ball often tonight. Although they are strong vs the pass, they aren’t as dominant against the run currently giving up nearly ninety yards a game.

Matt Cassel vs Steelers Pass Defense

  • Matt Cassel may be running out of time to keep his job as the Chiefs starting quarterback. With Brady Quinn ruled out with a concussion, Cassel is forced to lead his team on the road against the best defense in the league vs the pass.
  • With wide receiver Dwayne Bowe the only reliable target for Cassel through the air, he is in for a tough night at Heinz Field. If he get’s hurt, second-year player Ricky Stanzi will be called on to serve as backup.

Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers Passing Game

  • In stark contrast to the Chiefs passing game, Big Ben and the Steelers aerial attack has been highly impressive this year. Ranked tenth in the league in passing yards per game, it seems as though Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and co. have found a successful formula.
  • This will be a crucial battle to watch tonight. The Chiefs defense is a much better unit vs the pass than they are on the ground and we will find out a lot about their young players against the Steelers.

Who to Watch

Jamaal Charles

Jamaal Charles- Running Back- Chiefs

  • As mentioned earlier, Jamaal Charles has been one of the few bright spots for the Chiefs in 2012 and is leading the team in rushing with 634 yards. Charles hasn’t been as effective in recent weeks however after seeing just 27 carries in his last three games.
  • Now back healthy, he has showed some signs of returning to his best form. Look for the Chiefs to lean heavily on Charles in the run game tonight especially with their current quarterback issues.

Ben Roethlisberger- Quarterback- Steelers

  • Ben Roethlisberger has been terrific for the Steelers again this year and is on pace for the first back-to-back 4,000 yard passing seasons of his career. He has also done a much better job of protecting the football in recent weeks with a pass completion rate of over 70% in each of his last three games.
  • Of course, it does help when you’ve got players like Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders to throw to. Look for Big Ben to target this young wide receiving trio again tonight.

LaMarr Woodley- Outside Linebacker- Steelers

  • LaMarr Woodley was once a promising young player for the Steelers defense who looked like a capable pass rusher for years to come. Now 28-years-old, Woodley has seen his production slide over the past few seasons with his sack totals declining ever season since 2009.
  • Through seven games in 2012 he has registered only three sacks and doesn’t look to have the speed or power he once had. This is a big game for him tonight against a solid Chiefs offensive line.

Prediction

Ben Roethlisberger

This game features two teams on the opposite side of the form guide with the Steelers chasing the Playoffs and the Chiefs in the hunt to receive the first overall pick in the 2013 Draft.

Typically in these type of games, it’s the team that still has something to play for that comes out on top and so I see no reason to go against picking the Steelers here.

Chiefs 9 Steelers 23

So that’s your preview and prediction, hope everyone enjoys the game.

Monday Night Football- Eagles vs Saints Preview

leave a comment »

Drew Brees

After last night’s exciting action, Week 9 concludes tonight with a crucial NFC clash as the Philadelphia Eagles and the New Orleans Saints go head to head.

The game will be live on ESPN in America and on the BBC Red Button in Ireland.

So without further ado, here is a full preview of Monday Night Football Week 9.

Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints

Michael Vick

Stadium– Mercedes-Benz Superdome

Kick Off- 7:30 p.m. in San Diego/1:30 a.m. in Ireland

What to Watch

Mark Ingram

Saints Running Game

  • The Saints passing game has remained steady despite the loss of suspended head coach Sean Payton and Drew Brees currently leads the number one ranked team in the NFL in passing yards per game. The problem is the running game which is the worst in the league averaging under 75 yards per game.
  • With the news that speed back Darren Sproles is out with a hand injury, it leaves Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram as the only options left in the backfield. Look for them to see plenty of carrries tonight.

Eagles Running Game

  • The Eagles rushing attack hasn’t fared much better this year despite having a top 10 running back lined up in the backfield. That back is Lesean ‘Shady’ McCoy who is yet to show what he is truly capable of through seven games with just two rushing touchdowns.
  • Michael Vick is also a running threat and so the Eagles should be aiming to get more out of their ground game. Look for them to do so tonight against an awful Saints run defense.

Turnover Battle

  • With nine fumbles lost along with eight interceptions thrown by quarterback Mike Vick, the Eagles currently rank as one of the worst teams in the league in turnover differential. In fact, their Week 8 defeat to the Atlanta Falcons was the first time all year that Vick didn’t have a fumble or interception.
  • As for the Saints, they may have only one lost fumble but Drew Brees hasn’t been at his accurate best with eight interceptions of his own. Winning the turnover battle will prove vital tonight.

Who to Watch

Nnamdi Asomugha

Michael Vick- Quarterback- Eagles

  • “I got to get my swag back”. That was the answer Mick Vick gave to reporters this week as the struggling superstar lloks to bounce back yet another disappointing defeat.
  • So what exactly is wrong with Vick? It’s difficult to highlight one aspect of his game that is letting him down as there are far too many fundamental problems with the way he is playing right now and if he doesn’t improve playing in Prime time back in a dome, his rumored benching may become a reality.

Nnamdi Asomugha- Cornerback- Eagles

  • Once considered to be one of the most dominant defenisve players in the NFL, Asomugha has seen his career take a turn for the worst since joining the Eagles in free agency. After spending most of last season getting accustomed to his new defensive scheme, Asomugha is running out of excuses in year two.
  • No longer a feared defender, opposing quarterbacks aren’t afraid to throw to side in man coverage. That’s exactly what Saints quarterback Drew Brees will look to do early and often in this game.

Drew Brees- Quarterback- Saints

  • Speaking of Drew Brees, the Saints inspirational leader has given his full 100% effort to keep his team in the Playoff hunt but hasn’t yet managed to find a way to turn close games into wins. With 10 touchdown passes in his last three games, Brees has been a fantasy football stud for owners.
  • The problem is that stats don’t mean much when your team is sitting at 2-5. They cannot afford another defeat tonight as they look to keep pace with the rest of the NFC South.

Prediction

Michael Vick

Both these teams came into the season with Playoff ambitions but have so far struggled to get their talented rosters to perform on the field.

The Eagles can’t afford any more slip ups and with the Saints Postseason hopes all but over, Mike Vick keeps his teams chances alive with a win on the road in New Orleans.

Eagles 28 Saints 24

So that’s your preview and prediction, hope everyone enjoys the game.
